PRESIDENT OF ARTISANAL PALM OIL MILLERS AND OUTGROWERS ASSOCIATION OF GHANA PAYS COURTESY CALL ON DCE

The President of the Artisanal Palm Oil Millers and Outgrowers Association of Ghana and Board member of the Tree Crop Development Authority, Mr. Paul Amaning, paid a courtesy call on the Ho West District Chief Executive (DCE) on Thursday, July 13th, 2023.

The President of the Association was accompanied by Mr. Stephen Akpabli, Volta Focal Person for CSIR and the Oil Palm Research Institute, and Mr. Isaac Parry, Organizing Secretary of the Association.

The purpose of the visit was to announce the presence of the Association and the activities of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) – Oil Palm Research Institute (OPRI) in the District. The aim was to also discuss how tree crops, through the Association and the Tree Crop Development Authority in collaboration with the CSIR-OPRI, can empower women and youth groups in the oil palm sector and explore avenues for collaboration in the development of palm oil in the District.

The District Coordinating Director, Mr. Wisdom Kporngor, received the delegation on behalf of the Honorable District Chief Executive and expressed gratitude for the visit. He lauded the Association for its intervention and highlighted the Assembly’s efforts to boost local communities and promote inclusive growth in oil palm farming and processing.

Mr. Kporngor expressed the Assembly’s commitment to collaborating with the Association to strengthen the development of palm oil and harness the potential it holds for job creation, income generation, and rural development.

The DCE later followed up to witnesse the training organized by the Association at the Church of Pentecost, Dzolokpuita where he encouraged the women to actively participate in the training since its aims at building their capacities and equipping them in the oil palm productionand processing. He mentioned that the District has a track record in tree crop cultivation of which farmers and individuals have benefited in diverse ways.
